Chris Kelly returned to the Ottawa Senators for a year right away after suffering an injury. He participated in all 82 games in 2016 and scored 12 points. Chris was an unrestricted free agent following the expiration of his one-year contract with the Senators. In addition, he participated in the Edmonton Oilers’ summer trial in September 2017 as well.
In addition, he attended the team’s practice while remaining outside the group. Later, he signed with the Belleville Senators, the team’s new AHL affiliate. Chris did secure a tryout contract with the same team as 2018 came to a close.
