Suzette was the drummer in the family band Selena y Los Dinos, but her musical career was cut short after her sister’s death. According to an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Suzette does not remember the next two years of her life as her family dealt with the pain and grief.
She gave up drumming but remained connected to music by taking up the job of keeping her sister’s legacy alive. At 53, she currently serves as the CEO and president of Q Productions, the Latin music production company her father, Abraham Quintanilla, founded in 1993.
The company has put on various Selena tribute concerts over the years, including the one last year in May 2020, but unfortunately, it got canceled because of the pandemic.
The CEO also manages the Selena Museum that the singer’s awards, and other memorabilia in their native Corpus Christi, Texas. She has also facilitated the coordination and licensing of other Selena projects, including two best-selling Selena M.A.C. Cosmetics collections.
She has also attended numerous events honoring her sister, including a 2017 ceremony on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, during which Selena received a star.
The world continues to embrace her superstar sister, and Suzette could not ask for more.
