In the year 2005, a mutual friend matched Robin and Amber up on a blind date. They kept their relationship a secret until Robin came out as gay in 2013. They’ve been inseparable since then, and they’ve expressed their love for one other on social media. Robin made the announcement on Facebook, writing:
“Right now, I’m at ease and full of joy and appreciation.” I thank God, my physicians, and nurses for my improved health, and I thank my sister, Sally-Ann, for being my donor and providing me with the gift of life.”
“As we prepare to celebrate a magnificent new year together, I am grateful for my complete family, my long-time[sic] fiancée, Amber, and friends.” Robin’s bone marrow transplant, which was part of her therapy for myelodysplastic syndrome, took place 100 days ago.
Amber commented on Instagram in the year 2020 about their first meeting:
“I met you for drinks 15 years ago on a blind date that both you and I tried to cancel… twice.” Your grace drew my attention immediately away, and the relaxed atmosphere carried over into supper. Soon after, we went on a second date, and I couldn’t believe how comfortable I felt with you as we talked our lives while sipping lychee and apple martinis.
