She joined WLWT Hearst Television based in Cincinnati, Ohio back in August 2018. Currently, Kirklen works as an anchor and reporter for the station. Prior to working at WLWT-TV, she worked in Macon, Georgia as a morning anchor and reporter for WGXA for three years and one month from August 2015 to August 2018. While here, Kirklen wrote, edited, produced, and delivered four hours of morning news.
Previously, she served in Marquette, Michigan for two years and four months as a reporter and multi-media journalist at WLUC-TV 6 from April 2013 to July 2015. There, kirklen produced, wrote, shot, and edited stories for all newscasts on tight deadlines. Additionally, she reported live and covered breaking news. Moreover, Kirklen employed camera and non-linear editing using Edius. In addition, she produced and managed content for WLUC-TV’s website and social media pages.
Before that, Kirklen was an on-air host and producer also in Marquette, Michigan for two years and four months working for ESPN UP 93.3 FM and 970 AM from April 2013 to July 2015. Here, she covered the latest national news, stats, and scores on-air for Sunday sports updates.
Additionally, Kirklen covered scores from local high school basketball and football games on the air. Moreover, she edited sports commercials and spots using a radio switchboard and Cool Edit system. Lastly, Kirklen provided real-time updates on scoring via the station website.
Earlier on, she worked as a sports writer and blogger for Her Game Life from August 2012 to August 2014. Before, she was a writer for Mosaic magazine based in Charlotte, North Carolina from February 2013 to June 2013. Kirklen started her journalism in GEPIK working as an ESL teacher and editorial assistant located in Seoul, South Korea from April 2009 to April 2010.
