Andy Moog is from a goaltending family that is well-known in Penticton, British Columbia. Donald Andrew Moog was born in Los Angeles, California, on February 18, 1960, to Shirley and Don Moog. His father, Don, was a champion with the Penticton Vees in 1955, and he inherited his father’s goaltending ability.
The Moog Residence in Penticton pays homage to Canada’s hockey heritage and the Moog family’s lengthy dedication to the sport’s history. Andy had a similar hockey background to his father, who coached minor and junior hockey in Penticton. During the Scotiabank Rogers Hometown Hockey Tour in 2016, Andy returned to his roots, reminiscing about boyhood games in the McLaren Park parking lot.
He became the Boston Bruins’ tough goalie through difficult and exciting battles, learning valuable lessons off the field. Such events shaped his career, delivering success on the ice while also teaching friendship and endurance, thanks to his parents. As a result, the goalie mask embodies tradition, strength, and love in the Moog family’s story, uniting generations.
