Alma has had two marriages. On November 20, 1965, she married Donald Edward Wahlberg Sr., a US Army veteran. She had nine children with her first husband, who died in 2008 at the age of 78. She had six sons, Mark, Arthur, Jim, Robert, Paul, and Donnie, and three daughters, Debbie, Michelle, and Tracey.
Donald and Alma had been together for 17 years before Alma divorced him in 1982.
She married her lifelong boyfriend, Mark Conroy, two years later. Despite the fact that they do not have children, the couple continues to live together and enjoy the best of their married life.
