The wedding took place at St Mark’s Anglican Church in the Sydney district of Darlinghurst. Renate Blauel wore a white silk and lace bridal gown with a heart-shaped pendant set with 63 diamonds. Elton was also dressed in all-white.
His coat, which he wore over a striped silk shirt and a lavender bow tie, was estimated to have cost £1,000. He completed his ensemble with a boater hat and a purple band.
It happened on Valentine’s Day when Elton was 36 and Renate was 28 years old. One of the most taken aback was Elton’s pal Rod Stewart, who tweeted, “You may still be standing, but we’re all on the f***ing floor,” likely referring to a recent Elton song.
