Kamath began working as a software engineer after completing his studies. However, he began trading stocks as a result of his interest in the stock market. In 2010, he and his brother Nikhil Kamath co-founded Zerodha. Due to the company’s affordable brokerage fees and user-friendly trading platform, it quickly became well-known among traders in India.
Zerodha has received numerous honors and awards over the years. The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) presented the Emerging Entrepreneur Award to Kamath in 2014. The same year, BSE and Dun & Bradstreet gave Zerodha the Emerging Brokerage Firm of the Year award.
Zerodha received the same honor once more in 2015. Nithin was listed as one of Forbes India’s 30 Under 30 in Finance in 2016. The Economic Times honored Zerodha with Startup of the Year (Bootstrap) the same year. Zerodha won the title of Retail Brokerage Firm of the Year in 2019. The IIFL Wealth Hurun India 40 & under Self-Made Rich List for 2020 was led by Zerodha.
